Ephemeral Biomorphosis
On Growth and Form
AtelierYoung specializes in a design approach that incorporates AI technology and generative parametric technology into our architectural digital design services. At the same time, we value physicality and materiality. Our designs are inspired by nature, with a focus on natural forms and growth in a certain time continuum.
AtelierYoung, founded in 2023 and based in Seoul, aims to bring a fresh impact to the design industry as a whole. YoungB, the leader of AtelierYoung, presents a challenge to the architecture of a new era with diverse experiences accumulated across various fields. He majored in architectural engineering at Yonsei University, obtained a master’s degree in architecture design from the University of Pennsylvania, and a master’s degree in structural engineering from Columbia University. He worked for several design firms including a facade engineering & design firm, diverse architectural design firms in New York, ranging from residential to high-rise buildings.
He has shown interest and participated in the integration of structure and digital design technology through activities such as Digital Design Studio, Experimental in Structure Studio, and Structural Aesthetics classes. He is well-versed in BIM and has a keen interest in utilizing building data and AI technology. He has also served as a representative for branding and design store development in Korea, and with an interest in hanok (traditional Korean house), he has accumulated experience in various construction sites and is deeply knowledgeable in construction. He has also participated in various exhibitions with art furniture made in modern ways from traditional methods. Recently, AtelierYoung opened, and he lectures on digital architecture at institutions such as Seoul National University of Technology.
AtelierYoung is open to everyone. We focus on attempting innovative designs rather than the scale of projects and are interested in collaborating with fields other than architecture. In an era where people travel to space stations on rockets, we rethink the aesthetics influenced by gravity in design and are interested in ephemeral forms of residence where people of the new era can live.
